Margin, price & quantity calculator

Overview
This calculator worksheet assists analyzing of the effects of price and cost changes on gross margin %, gross margin dollars and units required to maintain current gross margin dollars. Scenario development from different input variables can be easily done.

The calculator can be used to evaluate the effects of 'sale' prices, as well as revised 'regular' prices. Additionally, it can be used to evaluate the effects of both simultaneous and independent changes in price and cost.

Required Input Variables
At its simplest, you only need two REQUIRED INPUTS:

1. your current gross margin %, and:
2. the price change % you are considering. The price change can be a positive % (a price increase) or a negative % (a price decrease).

The OUTPUTS provide you:

1. new gross margin %, and;
2. the % change in units needed to maintain your current gross margin dollars.

Optional Input Variables
You can also use three OPTIONAL INPUTS of:

1. a cost change % (a positive % for cost increases and a negative % for cost decreases);
2. the current unit volume, and;
3. the current price.

With these, the OUTPUTS provide you:

1. the new gross margin % (based on cost change % and the price change % already input);
2. the new unit volume needed to maintain your current gross margin dollars;
3. the new sales price;
4. the current gross margin dollars, and;
5. the new gross margin dollars
